Bring Whatever You’re Working On

Dressmaking, knitting, quilting, mending - it all counts. Bring your machine or hand-sewing project and settle in.

FAQ’s

  • Bring your sewing machine, tools and and current project along to the Jubilee Centre in Sheffield from 9:30-4:30pm to sew, knit or quilt (Pilates is from 4:30-5:30). We will provide you with a dedicated workspace, table and chair in small groups of 5-9.

    Ironing boards and irons will be available for you to use on the day. Three overlockers will also be available – one with white thread, one. with multicoloured thread and one with black thread.

    We will also have a cutting area set up with a number of cutting mats, although we do recommend you cut out any big projects before the day.

  • Drinks and refreshments will be provided throughout the day, including vegan and gluten free options. Please let us know of any further dietary requirements on your booking form.

    Afternoon tea (prosecco and cake) will be served during the afternoon at 3pm and there will be plenty of non-alcoholic options for you to enjoy too.

    We will not be providing lunch, so feel free to either bring a packed lunch (fridges are available if required) or make the most of one of the cafes along Ecclesall Road for a lunch break.

  • No - this is completely optional.

    There is a table set up for a fabric swap, pattern swap and homemade clothes swap.

    Have you made any garments that you never wear for one reason or the other? Perhaps once made, you didn’t like the fit, or the fabric wasn't quite what you were expecting or the style just didn't suit you?

    At our social, we would like to offer you the opportunity to bring any unwanted ‘me-made’ clothes for a clothes swap. Perhaps someone else might fit that lovingly-made garment beautifully and you might find something to take home with you too!

    So bring your unused fabric, homemade clothes and patterns to contribute if you want to.

  • Not at all - it’s completely optional.

    The day will be wrapped up with a relaxing and beginner friendly hour long ‘Relax, Stretch and Breathe’ class between 4:30-5:30pm. This will be physio-led by an APPI certified instructor, to help your body stretch out again after all that sewing. If you would like take part in this activity remember to bring an exercise mat or towel and a change of clothes (if desired).

  • Not at all! All levels are welcome - from beginners to seasoned creatives.

  • No - you're free to come and go as you like.

  • This is a relaxed, social day - not a structured class. Bring anything you’re working on.

  • 9:30 - Arrive excited to sew!

    3pm - Afternoon tea - full of chatter friendship.

    4:30pm - Sewing time finishes and optional Pilates session starts

    5:30pm - Pilates finishes and it’s the end of the day.

There is limited parking onsite for a few cars, but there is parking available on the adjacent roads (pay and display). The venue is fully accessible.
