About IzzoSew Studio

About

IzzoSew (i-zoh-so) Studio is run by Izzy and Tim and was born in 2021 out of a love of sewing, an appreciation of the sewing community and a desire to empower more people to make sustainable clothing choices.

Izzy has been teaching people to sew their own clothes for three years now; she first learnt the craft from her mother at an early age whilst living in the foothills of the Himalayas. These formative years taught her the magic of creating garments to wear and the value of the craft as more than just a pastime. The mental and practical benefits are immense and people often comment that her teaching style is one of calm, reassuring encouragement.

Izzy’s background in design as a chartered landscape architect provides her with a solid understanding of composition, balance, line and contour that she now employs to create beautiful garments and patterns. Design and fabric also run deep in Izzy’s past - one of her great grandparents owned a mill in Yorkshire, and another sold fabric to travelling merchants worldwide. Tim also has a background in design as an architect, and a handy textiles A-Level to boot. Our aim is to create a space where creativity, mindfulness and learning can thrive, and to empower sewists at every stage of their journey to make more sustainable clothing choices.
